If you were arrested and a court date is set, you should treat the court date very seriously. The judge will probably want to arraign you, meaning the judge will make you plea either guilty or not guilty. You do not want to accidentally incriminate yourself in front of the prosecutor or judge. Hiring your attorney prior to the first hearing is a good way to make sure that you don’t make your situation more difficult to resolve in the best way possible. If you have already been araigned and you don’t have an attorney, you should probably hire one as soon as possible.
